Wittpenn Bridge to be closed Saturday, Sunday for demolition of old bridge lift span

The new $496 million Wittpenn Bridge between Jersey City and Kearny will be closed this weekend for demolition of the old bridge lift span and tests on the new bridge lift span, state officials said. The closure is the second of six closures necessary, state Department of Transportation (DOT) said. Beginning at 4 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday, DOT's contractors will detour Route 7 traffic in both directions before the bridge. Read more here.

Motorists passing through the Wittpenn Bridge must plan ahead to avoid delays and inconveniences.
